Jersey Ontario Launches Online Invitational Sale, May 9th, 2020
After great consideration Jersey Ontario has made the decision to continue with the Ontario Invitational Sale. The sale, originally scheduled to have taken place as a live auction April 4th in Woodstock, ON, will now take place on May 9th as an on-line auction.
These changes have been made necessary due to Covid-19. This will allow the sale to continue while respecting the necessary Covid-19 restrictions and social distancing recommendations; thereby protecting our volunteers, consigners, buyers and membership.

As such, the sale will take a new on-line format which, while challenging, will bring with it some new opportunities. The sale will now be accessible to buyers, which in the past have been prohibited from buying due to the logistics of attending.
The sale will be held on May 9th, 2020 and will be delivered on-line through Shackelton Auctions. Shackelton Auctions successfully delivered the Hillmark Dispersal for Walker Dairy Sales in late March; the format was well received. That sale averaged $2,265 on 83 lots; the top seller was $7,500.
While we realize that this may not be the ideal situation, the Committee has been both diligent and responsible in its’ investigation of options (including the cancellation of the sale), and the discussion of the relative impacts on the Association, the consigners and the membership.
Information and direction on the online format will be forthcoming to consigners and to buyers.
The Committee greatly regrets the need for this decision; but is excited about the quality line-up of animals that will be on offer and the ability to provide a viable alternative to a live auction
